Most of us expect to fall asleep within a few minutes of retiring, stay
asleep through the night and awaken refreshed in the morning, as well
as stay awake and alert throughout the day. For many people, these expectations
are never met, because a sleep disorder prevents them from achieving normal
sleep and wakefulness. The Sleep Disorders Center at St. Helena Hospital
is a medical unit staffed by physicians and technologists trained in the
recognition, diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders.
