Inpatient physical therapy services provide patient care for post-surgical
conditions such as total hip and knee replacements, stroke, open heart surgery,
other neurological disorders and gait and balance disturbances.
Outpatient physical therapy services include the use of all treatment methods,
including electrical stimulation, iontophoresis, ultrasound, heat and ice.
Exercise programs are offered to assist in the quickest recovery possible
from such conditions as post-surgical orthopedic procedures, sprains and
strains, neurological conditions, pain (chronic and acute) and gait and
balance deficits.
Other physical therapy services include, but are not limited to, the following:
An initial physical therapy evaluation and assessment of the patient prior
to providing services.
Evaluation of the patient's symptoms and consideration of the diagnosis
and prognosis, to determine treatment goals and establish
an individualized program to prevent or reduce disability
or pain and to restore lost function, if possible.
Therapeutic interventions that focus on posture, locomotion, strength, endurance,
cardiopulmonary function, balance, coordination, joint mobility,
pain and functional abilities in daily living skills.
The application of modalities that include, but need not be limited to,
heat, cold, light, air, water, sound, electricity, massage,
mobilization, bronchopulmonary hygiene and therapeutic
exercise with or without assistive devices.
Assessment and training in locomotion, including as appropriate the use
of orthotic or assistive devices.
