Patient Referral
Patients may refer themselves for physical therapy; however, they will be responsible for the cost of their treatments. Insurance carriers will not pay for self-referrals to physical therapy. Most insurance carriers will cover physical therapy services, but patients must be referred through a physician.

Physician Referral
In order to refer a patient for physical therapy at St. Helena Hospital, physicians must write a prescription for physical therapy evaluation and treatment. If requested, physical therapists will contact the physician to discuss the patient's treatment.
