Patient Referral
Patients may refer themselves for occupational therapy; however, they
will be responsible for the cost of their treatment. Insurance carriers
will not pay for self-referrals to occupational therapy. Most insurance
carriers will cover occupational therapy services, but they must be referred
through a physician.
Physician Referral
In order to refer a patient for occupational therapy at St. Helena Hospital,
physicians must write a prescription for occupational therapy evaluation
and treatment. If requested, occupational therapists will contact the
physician to discuss the patient's treatment options.
